Andrew on the Recent Update Forums has Updated Rule 7, Once again which makes most World Shifting Programs once again illegal.
Andrew's Post link: QUOTE(Andrew Gower) We recently made some slight changes to rule 7. This has been done for a very specific reason to solve a particular (very bad) problem which occurred. We had a very good reason to change it. I can't really go into detail, but this wasn't just done on a whim. We've been careful to make the minimal change to solve just the problem that occurred, and to make sure the change doesn't impact further than necessary. Some people seem to think this rule change will have big impact, but it shouldn't really, and hopefully in a few days time that will be clear. We are already working with other people to make sure we aren't accidentally disallowing things we didn't mean to. It's only really a couple of very specific problems we are trying to avoid. There's not a lot to add here in terms of clarification of the rule because the rule is already written as clearly as we can manage. (if there were further things we thought we could say to make it clearer we'd put them in the rule itself). So all I can do is suggest you carefully read the rule. It should make sense. Important: Please note that the 'no advertising' rule applie]s to these forums as always. Threads which advertise or discuss third party websites or software will therefore be removed. The Changes of the rules, are the guildlines of what world shifting programs do which they know how to do the following: QUOTE(Rule #7 Update @ Using Third Party Software) You also must not use any RuneScape-specific third party software which encourages breaking of our rules, or bypasses the normal navigation of our website, or automatically requests pages from our website, or which endangers user accounts.
Strider isn't doing anything about it, Jagex changed around the world page too and they just released an SS update that works with the updated worlds, despite this new rule... Strider doesn't seem to care from what I hear, it would probably give him some gratification to have a mass ban then a huge uproar.. The ops on swiftirc are simply misinforming the users like 'it cant be detected'.. Why it'll end up with mass ban? QUOTE(From Rule #7 @ Using Third Party Software) How does the new macro detection system work? Our new macro detection system monitors activity on our servers and detects suspicious behaviour. This evidence is reviewed by our team of experts who either confirm or reject the system's analysis. Jagex will not reveal the exact mechanics of how this system works because this would make circumvention easier. Quote from Rule #7: http://kbase.runescape.com/viewarticle.ws?article_id=2077 Just a friendly warning! -------------------- |

QUOTE Probaly's spark another Protest cartier watches off like the last one... im sure those mods just dont have very up to date infohttp://img45.imageshack.us/img45/449/ssprotestfc2.png http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/3175/ssprotest06lf5.png later in the thread a dif mod said Remember that whilst a piece of software may not offer any tremendous benefit for playing the game it can still offer several security risks to your computer and your account. My advice, if it doesn't have Jagex's approval then you should avoid using it. that tells me that the mod just made a mistake and got use it at the own risk and against the rules mixed up |
